Frequently asked questions

Will the result be larger than my target?

No. TargetKB guarantees the output is never above your target size. It pushes the file as close to the target as the image allows, and if the target is genuinely unreachable it returns the smallest compressible version it can.

Do you upload my image anywhere?

No. Everything happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, which is why it keeps working even offline after first load.

Which formats can I compress?

JPG, PNG and WEBP are supported. Output is always JPEG. Transparent PNG areas are flattened to white (JPEG has no transparency).
